The winner of the 2015 Electrolux Australian Young Chef award, Jake Kellie, has decided to move on from Northcote’s Estelle Bistro.
Kellie, who was also a finalist for the Age Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year award, has decided to take on the head chef position at a new restaurant located in Pakenham around 56km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD.
The new restaurant, named the Lakeside Mill, is the brainchild of Casey Brent Summerville who has been working on the project since August 2014.
As reported by Good Food, the restaurant will offer breakfast and contemporary bistro dishes along with locally sourced food and wine with possible menu items including buttermilk-fried chicken with fennel pollen; and shared dishes of tomahawk steak with caf de Paris butter.
The restaurant will also offer a five course tasting menu that will champion local produce.
The Lakeside Mill is due to open in mid February.
