Chin Chin claims Yelp’s 100 top places to eat list

Online restaurant and entertainment review platform, Yelp has released a list of its top 100 places to eat in Australia for 2016.

The list was created via Yelp’s data analysts, who determined the most popular and well-reviewed venues around Australia since the brand launched in the country in 2011. Businesses were compared via a ranking system that considered ratings and the number of reviews that a venue attracted, while also accounting for quality, popularity and statistical fluctuations.

To ensure consistencies in the list and maintain a local approach, Yelp only counted reviews written by Yelp members in their home location in Australia. To be included, businesses must primarily be a restaurant or place to eat a meal, and only the highest ranked location was counted where a business with multiple locations appeared more than once on the list.

Melbourne’s Chin Chin took out the number one position, knocking last year’s leading eatery, Mamak back to fifth position.
