Bondi’s China Diner has opened a second venue in Double Bay. The new addition serves up fresh and flavourful dishes in a relaxed dining setting.
China Diner’s executive chef Jack James Steer has curated a light and healthy offering that incorporates traditional flavours.
The menu is designed to be shared, featuring a selection of dumplings and bao, including the crispy pork bao with apple and carrot kimchi and sriracha mayonnaise and the chicken and sesame ‘chiko’ spring rolls with blood plum sauce. Mains include five spice duck pancakes with hoisin and masterstock pork belly with chilli, caramel and lime.
The Double Bay venue will offer most of the original Bondi menu, but will also feature a number of additions, like chicken and sweet corn soup topped with truffle foam.
China Diner’s cocktail menu draws inspiration from a range of Asian cuisines, with drinks like the Bondi Cherry Blossom made using campo de encanto pisco, apricot sake, cherry heering, lemon and egg whites.
China Diner Bondi and China Diner Double Bay utilise a long cocktail bar with fixed bar stools, open tables and cosy booths to create a casual, interactive dining scene. Both diners were designed by Humphrey and Edward’s Architects, who combined a rich and intriguing mix of timber panelling, worn leather and warm lighting.
