Restaurateur Chris Lucas is teaming up with property investor and developer Cbus Property to open two new concepts in the Melbourne CBD.
The two restaurants will be part of the new-build $1 billion commercial office tower on 435 Bourke Street.
The concepts which are yet to be named are planned to be a modern Chinese eatery and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant.
Both venues will have a focus on sustainability in its design and operation and also showcase the latest in hospitality technology with Lucas labelling the concepts both as “all-electric” restaurants.
“Melbourne is my home and city that I have dedicated my working life to and is also
one of the world’s great food cities,” says Lucas.
“Developments such as 435 Bourke Street give me a rare creative licence and a blank canvas to see how our restaurants can help transform our city and position it as a city of the future for both hospitality and work.”
The collaboration follows Lucas’ work on 80 Collins Street where he opened Society and Yakimono, and at 101 Collins Street which hosts his restaurant Grill Americano on the ground floor.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chris Lucas to help shape the vision for 435 Bourke Street and create restaurant offerings that will reinvigorate mid-town Melbourne by applying the signature Lucas atmosphere and experience to define a new mixed-use destination for the CBD,” says Cbus Property Chief Executive Officer Adrian Pozzo.
The two venues will join Lucas’ growing portfolio, which most recently has included Canberra restaurant Carlotta and Melbourne’s Batard, alongside Chin Chin, Society, Yakimono, Grill Americano, Kisumé, Baby, and Hawker Hall.
