Lucas Restaurants will open a second Grill Americano location in September this year, but this time, it’s in Sydney.
The Melbourne-based hospitality group is growing its Harbour City footprint, which currently consists of Chin Chin in Surry Hills, which opened back in 2017.
You’ll find Grill Americano Sydney at No.1 Chifley Square (formerly known as Qantas House) later on this year, with the team focused on preserving the bones of the historic location. “I’ve always had a love for heritage buildings, and the opportunity to restore the iconic Qantas House is truly special,” says Lucas. “This historic treasure offers the perfect home for Grill Americano Sydney. Since opening Chin Chin in Surry Hills, we’ve been embraced by the city and played a role in its vibrant dining evolution.”
Grill Americano Melbourne opened its doors in 2022, and focuses on delivering high-end service alongside a food program inspired by Venetian fare. The Sydney restaurant will follow its cues, and feature a wood oven from Verona as well as a Josper grill, so guests can expect plenty of proteins cooked over fire.
The team is led by Restaurant Manager Ruaridh Macdonald and General Manager of Culinary Damian Snell as well as Paolo Saccone, who is curating the wine offering.
Grill Americano Sydney is slated to open in September, with an official opening date to come. It marks the latest announcement from the group, which will also launch another Canberra restaurant this May.
