Former café Monte Alto Roasters has relaunched as Monte Alto Eatery & Bar with a new focus on contemporary dining and fine whisky.
Located in Crows Nest in Sydney, the restaurant and bar will focus on modern Australian cuisine with a Vietnamese twist, under the helm of head chef and owner Harry Nguyen.
“The menu tells my story; from my Vietnamese heritage and culture, to the restaurants I have gained invaluable experience working in,” he says.
“I always keep those precious times very close to my heart and hope that my dishes can bring a unique dining experience for all guests. We use fresh, top quality produce to create culinary dishes that are full of new flavours and with a good balance of colour and texture to excite all taste bud.”
Monte Alto will continue to serve a modern Australian breakfast and lunch menu, with coffees by Toby’s Estate and a selection of brunch cocktails available during the day.
In the evening, the venue will adopt a more up-market vibe and modern menu, complete with wines, cocktails and one of the largest collection of whiskies in the area.
Highlights of the dinner menu include halloumi fries served with tomato salsa and pesto aioli and smoky pork ribs slowly cooked and basted in a homemade spicy BBQ sauce and served with roasted vegetables and 12-hour slow-cooked, coffee-rubbed pork roast served with garlic mash, poached greens and tomato salsa.
