Incoming West Australian chair of Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) Kiren Mainwaring has officially opened nominations for the 2016 Wine List Awards.
The R&CA Wine List Awards recognise restaurants that excel in the provision of wine service, showcase local wines and support local producers through wine list development.
Mainwaring, owner and head chef at Co-Op Dining said, “I am a huge supporter of the fantastic food and wine available from local producers – it is at the core of my business. What a fantastic way to start my tenure as WA chair than to open the WA Wine List Awards.”
For the second year, R&CA has partnered with Wines of WA to deliver the awards, as part of the 2016 Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence program. Winners will be announced at Fraser’s WA State Reception Centre on Monday 9 May.
R&CA CEO John Hart said the event is a great way to showcase the nine wine regions. “It’s all about enhancing the tourism experience by combining local food and wine to showcase the local dining experience. The WA Wine List Awards is a great way to work with restaurant operators and encourage them to lift the profile of WA wines.”
Nominations close on 5 April.
