US burger player Five Guys will open its first Australian location in 2021.
Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group (Meat & Wine Co, 6Head, Ribs & Burgers) has confirmed it is the master franchisee for Australia and New Zealand, and plans are already underway to open the first site.
“We feel confident in the Seagrass partnership because of the strong operational capabilities and our joint focus on high-quality food and customer service,” says Sam Chamberlain, Five Guys chief operating officer. “We are excited to work together to grow the Five Guys brand in Australia.”
The Seagrass team are currently scouting locations in Sydney, with plans to roll out 20 Five Guys stores across Australia and locations in New Zealand.
“Our commitment is to open approx. 20 stores nationwide in the right locations and with the right staff,” says David Ovens, chief marketing officer for Seagrass.
It will only be a few months until Australian diners can get their hands on Five Guys’ signature menu, which champions classics made well.
The snappy menu encompasses dogs, burgers and sandwiches alongside fries and milkshakes. Locals will also be able to customise dishes with Five Guys’ endless free toppings.
Five Guys is one of the most popular burger concepts in the US, with the Murrell family opening the first store in Washington D.C. in 1986.
The brand had five stores before it launched a franchise model in 2002, and there are now more than 1500 locations across the US, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
