Good Heavens, a Palm Springs-style rooftop cocktail bar opened on Bourke street, upstairs from sibling bar Fancy Hank’s, on 2 December.
“It took us a bit longer to get open then we hoped, but we’re super excited to show people what we’ve done with the place,” said Daragh Kan, one of the venue’s partners.
The cocktails are made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and mixed with premium spirits, with twists on 80s classic cocktails, including the Harvey Danger and the Good Mai Tai.
Other offerings from the cocktail menu include the Poco Loco, Good Heavens’ take on the classic Pina Colada with coconut fat-washed Havana Club Rum, pineapple juice, agave and a splash of Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut, as well as the Big Pharma, a twist on the Espresso Martini. Good Heavens’ take uses Fitzroy-based The Rum Diary’s house-made spiced rum and includes Crme De Noyaux, Mozart dark chocolate, Black Eagle cold brew coffee and a pinch of salt.
There are 10 beers on-tap from both local and international breweries as well as a list of hard-to-find bottled craft selections, as well as a wine and spirits list curated for outdoor drinking.
The bar snack menu, designed by venue partner and executive chef Mike Patrick, is a blend of Australian and American, offering a more casual take on Fancy Hank’s offering. Hank’s cheeseburger and the Nachos with brisket mole and queso are featured, while fried cauliflower with vegan ranch dressing and the Artichoke dip provide vegetarian options.
Good Heavens is licensed for 200 people.
