The Grand Pacific Group have opened their first interstate venue, Walter Café, on Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin.
Located in The Marion precinct, the new site has 120 seats split across indoor (80) and outdoor seating (40).
“We are thrilled to be opening the doors to Walter Café and The Marion,” says Co-owner Manny Spinola. “The site has been closed for over two years, and a lot of hard
work has been going on behind the scenes.”
In the kitchen is Chef Matthew Ouwerkerk who brings with him 15 years of experience from time working in Sydney, Melbourne and London.
“We know guests are going to love the menu that chef Matthew Ouwerkerk has created, and we look forward to showcasing the region’s incredible local produce within this stylish and elegant space,” says Spinola.
The menu is split into breakfast and lunch options that are available daily.
Items in the breakfast selection can be broken down into four sections breads, eggs, and healthy options along with sides such as a potato & cauliflower hash with togarashi.
Main highlights include Alaskan crab omelette, ricotta hot cakes with caramelised banana wattle seed butter and chilli scrambled eggs served with feta and a potato.
Lunch options consists of small and large plates, burgers, sandwiches and sides.
Guests can order a Wagyu cheeseburger (180g) with maple bacon, the Walter Café Nicoise salad, a prawn linguine, grilled swordfish or roast chicken breast.
Dessert items include sticky date pudding, apple and pear crumble with ginger ice-cream, chocolate tart and a chef’s selection of petit fours served with tea or coffee.
Spinola is preparing to launch Manon in Sydney this week, with Lola’s in Bondi opening last year.
Walter Café is now open for breakfast and lunch from 7am until 4pm.
