Jonathan Barthelmess has confirmed he will open a new restaurant in Brisbane. The venue will open in October 2019, taking up the vacant space between Greca and Stanley (set to open soon) at Howard Smith Wharves.
The restaurant will be a waterfront, Japanese izakaya and bar, with Barthelmess inspired by his time in Tokyo (where he owns The Apollo) and his Sydney restaurant Cho Cho San. It will feature a raw section based on sustainable seafood, specially sourced and selected Wagyu beef, as well as an extensive sake and wine list. Upstairs will be a fun take on a vinyl bar with an extensive and curated whiskey list.
“We love being part of Howard Smith Wharves where the huge success of Greca has taken us all by surprise,” says Barthelmess. “By taking the restaurant space next door we can grow and strengthen our team and invest more into the Brisbane dining scene.”
Further details will be released in the coming months.
