After a lengthy wait, KOI Dessert Bar will officially open the doors to its flagship store in Melbourne on 19 July.
The 100 Queen Street location has been fitted out with a 42-seat dining space, state-of-the-art pastry kitchen, and retail offering.
KOI originally opened in Sydney and is run by Ike Malada and her sons Reynold, Ronald, and Arnold Poernomo.
The Melbourne expansion has been years in the making, with the family always wanting to operate in the city after running a pop-up back in 2018.
“The city represents the pinnacle of creativity and culinary excellence in Australia,” says Reynold.
“The venue and space at Queen & Collins echoes the identity we’ve shaped over the years, and is a place where our commitment to innovation, art, [and] flavour can come to life.”
KOI’s signature desserts, celebration cakes, and drinks will soon be available to Melburnians alongside a range of newly developed items that will be unique to the store.
There will be 150 options that will be rotated constantly, offering guests the opportunity to try something different on each visit.
Launch desserts include a tatin of mixed spice crumble, cinnamon apple, caramel, and cream cheese while the Carlton combines pandan with coconut, mango, and almond.
KOI Melbourne will open Tuesday to Thursday from 10am until 10pm.
