Lion has invested in Yarra Valley distillery Four Pillars, taking a 50 per cent stake in the business.
The gin company says the investment will allow the distillery to build the world’s leading craft gin brand.
“It would not be untrue to say that more than a few organisations have shown an interest in us over the past 18 months and Lion just felt the best,” says co-founder Stuart Gregor. “We like their focus on craft, we like the fact we will be their first and most important craft spirit brand.”
Lion adds Four Pillars to its portfolio which currently includes brands such as Little Creatures, Furphy, Malt Shovel and James Squire. “The partnership with Four Pillars is really exciting for Lion, as we venture into new categories outside our core beer business,” says James Brindley, Lion managing director.
