Malaysian restaurant Mamak has opened Mamak Bali in Seminyak.
It’s the first overseas venture for the group which has venues in Sydney and Melbourne.
“We love the area, and thought it would be an ideal spot to open our first overseas branch of Mamak,” says director Julian Lee.
The venue will be the first Mamak restaurant to be licensed, so diners can enjoy a beer with their meal.
“Seminyak, in particular, has a food scene that is very sophisticated and has really emerged as a culinary destination in itself,” says Lee.
“We think we will fill a gap in the market here, as no one is really offering authentic Malaysian food. Being in this part of the world gives us greater access to amazing Asian produce that can only enhance our flavours even further.”
The full menu will be available and the 70-seat venue features subtle references to Balinese design as well as its Australian roots.
