A group of well-known restaurateurs have come together to launch Marameo on Russell Place in Melbourne’s CBD.
Joe Mammone, Michael Badr and Marco Tenuta are behind the Italian eatery which is described as a venue that’s all about having a good time. “We’re looking to do something different here,” says Mammone.
Marameo is open for lunch, small bites and dinner Monday to Friday and dinner on Saturday evenings until late.
The restaurant features an 80-seat dining area and a standalone bar for snacks and drinks, with drop-in lunch specials including a $15 cacio e pepe.
Geoff Martin has been appointed head chef of the venue, designing a menu revolving around salumi, antipasti, hand-made pasta and grilled proteins.
Dishes include ricotta ravioli with eggplant, tomato and basil along with squid ink pasta with crab, pork chop cotoletta with fennel, cabbage and herbs plus Cone Bay barramundi with zucchini, mint and capers.
Sommelier Tom Maiden has curated the beverage list which has a dedicated spritz section along with classic cocktails and a 300-bottle wine list.
