Restaurateur Maurice Terzini is heading into Sydney’s CBD for his latest project, which will see the former Jacksons on George site converted into a three-level dining destination.
Lendlease and DTL Entertainment Group (of which Terzini is creative director) have secured the site, which will open in Sydney Place; an office tower and dining/retail precinct extending from the CBD to Circular Quay.
Jacksons on George is slated for completion in early 2023, with DTL’s vision for the location respecting the site’s history while leading “the way for a new-generation pub to serve the local and wider community”, reads a press release.
The space will encompass three spaces including a pub on the ground floor, a restaurant and wine bar on level one and a rooftop cocktail bar.
“We will deliver a consistently activated series of spaces … with unique offerings and personalities that evolve over the course of the day, taking patrons on a remarkable journey.
“To be able to reimagine this venue of extraordinary heritage is a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
“Jacksons will be the ultimate public bar and dining room with a commitment to social equality and community, where traditions are reinterpreted and ‘your local’ is redefined. It will be a place where everyone is welcome to eat, drink, talk and laugh.”
The original Jacksons on George closed in 2018, and has since been demolished in preparation for the site’s redevelopment. Sydney Place is on track to open in 2023.
