Sydney’s Maybe Sammy has been named Best International New Cocktail Bar at the 13th Annual Spirited Awards held in New Orleans.
Stefano Catino, Vince Lombardo and Andrea Gualdi opened the bar just seven months ago in The Rocks and the team are thrilled with the win.
“I couldn’t be any more proud,” says Lombardo. “The concept and execution of Maybe Sammy has taken a lot of hard work, but it’s all been worth it. We knew we were creating something truly unique and we’re thrilled our peers, the industry and our customers appreciate it. It’s the icing on the cake to receive an internationally recognised award such as this.”
Fellow Sydney bar Scout at The Dolphin Hotel was also in the running for the award alongside nine other bars including The SG Club in Tokyo, Homeboy Bar in London and Drink Kong in Rome.
The winner was selected according to immediate impact on cocktail culture along with creativity, decor, service and execution of drinks.
New York’s Dante took out the award for World’s Best Bar.
