After a renovation and development over two floors, Pure South Dining will reopen on Friday 16 December.
The venue, located in Melbourne’s Southgate complex, now comprises two levels. The dcor has been influenced by the shifting shapes, colours and textures of Tasmania, with elements of wood and stone prominent. Pure South will continue to offer produce from Tasmania, prepared by a team of chefs, led by executive chef David Hall.
Chef Jesse McTavish will collaborate with the team for the new all day dining and will be working in the venue for a short period once the doors open.
In the 12 years since opening Pure South Dining, owners Philip Kennedy and Peter Leary have developed a contemporary dining environment to showcase produce from all corners of Tasmania, including King and Flinders Islands.
“We want to offer Melburnians and visitors alike an experience like no other,” said Leary.
“Our restaurant has always been driven by some key principles – we are quietly proud of what we do, and we’re for Tasmania. We wanted to introduce a bigger offer in our reimagined space and keep telling the authentic story we have always spoken of. We can do this in an environment that offers diners an opportunity to determine their own experience – to tell us what they are in the mood for – whether early in the morning or all throughout the day and into the evening.”
Pure South will offer a variety of dining options across both levels of the restaurant, with terrace bars on both levels, an open kitchen and secluded dining spaces.
“It’s about providing a new experience every time someone walks through the door – whether they are coming on a weekly basis, or they choose to celebrate life’s special occasions with us,” said Kennedy.
“Over more than a decade we have told the stories of growers and farmers, foragers and fisherman from across Tasmania. They are the heart and soul of what we do and we are excited to continue to share their expertise and knowledge. With David Hall and Sam Prance-Smith in the kitchen and our experienced team delivering the level of service we have set as a cornerstone for the last 12 years, we look forward to being Melbourne’s go to place with something to suit everyone’s taste.”
Pure South Dining will be open from 7am Monday–Friday and 8am on weekends.
