Merivale executive chef Dan Hong will team up with international chefs to launch The Blend at Ms.G’s.
Presented with Chivas Regal, the evenings will see Hong working with chefs including Kris Yenbamroong, Jowett Yu and Louis Tikaram to create snacks served with whisky and cocktails. The events will feature DJs, bespoke Chivas Regal cocktails — created to match the menu — and whisky stations, where guests can sample and learn about different blends.
The series will kick off with Hong and Yenbamroong (Night + Market) teaming up on 10 and 11 October. Yenbamroong, who opened Night + Market on LA’s Sunset Boulevard in 2010, has been a finalist for a James Beard Award multiple times and was named Food & Wine magazine’s best new chef in 2016.
The second event in the series will produce an Asian-fusion mash-up, with Hong joined by Hong Kong-based Yu (Ho Lee Fook) and LA-based Tikaram (L.P. & E.P.) on 12 and 13 November. Before founding Ho Lee Fook, Yu opened Ms.G’s alongside Hong in 2011, before launching Mr. Wong. As executive chef of E.P. & L.P., Tikaram has made a name for himself State-side with dishes inspired by his multicultural background — raised on a cattle farm in Mullumbimby, Tikaram has Fijian-Chinese-Indian heritage.
The experimental menus will be served for two nights only, with one signature dish available throughout the month.
A third and final partnership will be announced soon.
