Michael Box has been appointed executive chef at QT Sydney’s Gowings Bar & Grill.
Box originally joined QT as executive sous chef in Sydney before taking on the executive chef role at Canberra’s Capitol Bar & Grill.
“It feels great to be back in the Gowings kitchen, where it all began,” says the chef. “The restaurant is a Sydney institution, loved by locals and celebrated for showcasing best in class, locally-sourced ingredients and produce, which is a real passion point of mine. I’m looking forward to reinvigorating the classics.”
Box has tweaked the Gowings menu and has reintroduced the ‘I only have a minute steak’ along with a QT rib eye.
The breakfast menu has also been amended with new additions including buckwheat strawberry pancakes with lemon ricotta and a brain food bowl with rice, turmeric, za’atar, avocado and sprouts.
A full menu overhaul is expected later in the year.
