Matt Leahy has been appointed as the new executive chef at West Australian catering company, Ultimo Catering & Events.
He’s joined by the new senior sous chefs ‘Max’ Ling Yu Mau and Johnathan Pace.
Combined, the trio has over 40 years’ experience in commercial kitchens. Leahy helped The Cliff House Restaurant in Dublin gain a Michelin star, while he worked under chef Martijn Kajuiter. Mau has been involved in the opening of restaurants around the world, including The Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong, and Pace has worked in various Michelin star restaurants including Baume (Palo Alto), Aziza (San Francisco) and Noma (Copenhagen), which was awarded two Michelin stars and named best restaurant in the world for three consecutive years.
“It is extremely rare to see chefs of this quality working for catering companies in WA and this is a reflection of where Ultimo is heading” said Juan Otero, Ultimo´s CEO.
Ultimo employs over 100 full time and regular casual staff, providing catering to weddings, private and corporate events as well as other major events. Its on-site commercial kitchen is run by a team of over 25 local and international chefs.
