For those who have been waiting to know more about the much-anticipated, late-night live music venue from the team at Odd Culture Group – we have news for you.
Pleasure Club will open on 23 February in Sydney’s inner west suburb of Newtown, equipped with its 4am closure every evening from Wednesday through to Sunday.
The venue takes it inspiration from the small bars of New York and Paris, and will host a unique late-night food, drink, and music experience for Sydneysiders.
“We want to change the way we perceive and interact with late-night experiences in Sydney,” says Odd Culture Group Creative Director Nick Zavadszky.
“After so many years of control and limitations, Pleasure Club is our creative vessel – a pocket dimension of all the weird and wonderful shit we like to celebrate … It’s going to be chock full of pleasurable things that allay your misery and elate you, if only for a night (albeit, a very very late night).”
Odd Culture Group has also revealed that Pleasure Club will host a cocktail lab run by the group’s Creative Beverage Lead and General Manager Sam Kirk alongside Re-‘s Matt Whiley.
The duo will present a seasonal cocktail program named A Pleasure Club Story, which will play on a variety of philosophical and story-like themes that will be displayed throughout the venue through entertainment and venue curation too.
“The cool thing is, with the lab equipment we have, we can create anything without any limits and the team is letting their imaginations run wild,” says Whiley.
“I know that Pleasure Club is going to create something new and exciting in the nightlife of Newtown, and Sydney in general.”
Odd Culture Group Entertainment Manager Sabrina Medcalf is curating the live music program which is set to include a variety of genres such as neo soul, psychedelic rock, New Orleans grit, and more.
“It’s immersive, experimental, subjective, confronting and stirs something in you which is everything the Pleasure Club entertainment bill seeks to offer,” says Medcalf when speaking to the program.
“Surrender to your primal instincts, embrace the allure of sin, and revel in the celebration of the unique and unconventional. When that curtain opens, expect the
unexpected.”
Pleasure Club will open on 23 February at 6 Wilson Street, Newtown, New South Wales.
