South Australian Craft brewery Pirate Life has announced that it will expand to Melbourne next year with a new venue.
Located in a former mechanic garage in South Melbourne, the venue will mark the fourth location from the brand along with its headquarters in Port Adelaide, Pirate Life Microbrewery in The District at Skycity and Pirate Life Perth.
The brand was established in 2014 by Michael Cameron, Jack Cameron, and Jared Proudfoot and now employs more than 150 people nationwide.
“As a brand, we’ve been long-time admirers of Melbourne’s hospitality scene and Pirate Life’s new venue in South Melbourne finally gives us a chance to be part of it, while showcasing our love for people, food, and beverage,” says Jack.
“With the area boasting some of Melbourne’s – and PL’s – cult-favourite brands, we can’t wait to get amongst it and show locals what Pirate Life is all about.”
Kegs of beer will be shipped directly from the brand’s Port Adelaide Brewery and will cover staples such as pale ales, IPAs and stouts.
The selection will also include a regular rotation of limited edition releases which will encompass fruit sours, barrel-aged sours, imperials and the occasional nitro.
Patrons can also expect an elevated food offering alongside a range of wines and spirits.
“We envisaged a rotational menu that explores the diversity of our neighbouring local market stalls and seeks inspiration from fresh and local ingredients,” says Jack. “We love cooking over fire, so anticipate charred goodness.”
In addition, the venue will host various events and activations in the coming months including mural displays, roaming exhibitions, musical performances and celebrity chef dinners.
