Sydney hospitality groups Public and Love Tilly have confirmed they have ended their partnership.
The two forces teamed up to launch Fabbrica inside The Exchange Hotel in Redfern, Bar La Salut in The Norfolk in Redfern, and were gearing up to open another Fabbrica location inside the soon-to-reopen The Federal pub in Annandale.
However, the plans have now been scrapped, with news of the split.
“For the benefit of the staff and the suppliers, we can no longer, in good faith, continue to run our venues together with Public Hospitality,” said Love Tilly Group Managing Director Matt Swieboda in a statement.
Love Tilly has closed the doors of its Balmain location, confirming its departure on Instagram.
“Ciao Balmain. Unfortunately our time at this pop-up has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who’s visited us in the past eight months. Please join us at Fabbrica King Street and keep an ear out for new venue announcements soon.”
Public responded to the announcement last week, confirming it had been informed of the decision and will continue to operate La Salut, with existing staff to be offered employment opportunities.
“Public is disappointed to have been informed today that Love Tilly Group has decided to end the commercial relationship,” reads a statement from the group.
“While there have been disputed commercial matters, Public understood these to be progressing. Public thank Love Tilly Group for their contribution and wish them well in future endeavours. Public purchased the La Salut brand in 2022 and will continue to operate at The Norfolk in Redfern, including offering employment for existing staff.”
There’s no word on what concept will replace Fabbrica inside The Federal yet, with the pub originally set to be split into two spaces split between Maybe Frank and Fabbrica.
Meanwhile, expansion remains on the cards for both groups, with Gourmet Traveller reporting Love Tilly will be announcing new locations as soon as this week.
Public has also been busy this year, recently revamped Darlinghurst venue The Strand, and working away on the former Noah’s Backpackers location in Bondi which it acquired last year.
