Sydney restaurateurs Ross and Sunny Lusted have confirmed they will open two ‘Iberian coastal’ concepts in Melbourne.
It marks the first interstate foray for the couple, who operated the acclaimed Bridge Room for eight years before launching Woodcut at Crown Sydney in 2020.
The restaurant and basement bar are located alongside the soon-to-open boutique Melbourne Place hotel located on Russell Street in the heart of the CBD.
“We feel extremely fortunate to have found these unique sites in what is an emerging dining precinct,” says Sunny.
“Having lived and worked in Melbourne at various points over the past decades, it feels incredibly special to return with our own venues and to be joining Melbourne’s hospitality community.”
The yet-to-be-named venues are slated to open during the second half of the year, and will revolve around Iberian cuisine, which features influences from Spain and Portugal.
“Having spent years living and travelling throughout coastal Europe where produce markets and local fisheries are woven into the fabric of each city and are integral to the rituals of daily life, being in Melbourne transports me back to those times,” says Ross.
“I love the eclectic nature of Melbourne and can’t wait to see our new venues come to life in this incredible city.”
More details to come.
