The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has released the 2024 extended list, with one Australian fine diner making the cut.
Josh Niland’s Saint Peter has been ranked no.98, making its debut on the global platform.
The Sydney restaurant is the first Australian establishment to feature on the list in two years, with Attica and Brae both ranking on the extended list back in 2021 and Gimlet in 2022.
Niland took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone achievement: “Julie Niland and I can’t begin to express our deepest most heartfelt congratulations to our whole team across Saint Peter, Fish Butchery, and Petermen,” he wrote.
“We are incredibly grateful to them and to The World’s 50 Best for recognising their efforts over the past years.”
The 51-100 list saw 12 new entries in total including restaurants from Berlin, Mumbai, and Seoul.
There are 23 entries from Europe, 13 from Asia, six from North America, five from South America, one from the Middle East, one from Africa, and one from Oceania.
“This year’s extended list is a true representation of global gastronomy. With restaurants located across six continents, we’re thrilled to see so many new entries from exciting names that are making their mark on the dining world,” says William Drew, director of content.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is compiled from votes cast by 1,080 international restaurant experts.
The 50 Best Restaurants list will be announced at a live ceremony in Las Vegas on 5 June.
