The Star Brisbane opened its doors over the weekend with an extensive food and beverage offering across an array of cuisines and atmospheres.
Hospitality shares the top picks from the venue.
Fat Noodle
Running for over a decade in Treasury Brisbane, celebrity chef Luke Nguyen is now bringing the South-East Asian flavours of Fat Noodle to The Star. The restaurant will serve the famed 20-hour Fat Pho Noodles, a fiery laksa, and a range of new menu items.
“Fat Noodle at The Star Brisbane will take the dining experience to a whole new level,” says Nguyen. “I can’t wait to welcome Brisbane locals and visitors into a brand-new venue and introduce fresh new flavours that further enhance Fat Noodle’s authentic South-East Asian flavours.”
Sokyo
Sokyo is an artistic fusion of traditional and modern Japanese cuisine, using local Queensland produce. With Chef Alex Yu at the helm, the restaurant combines theatre and creative Japanese cooking to create a deep sensory experience.
Yu began his career at Sokyo Sydney in 2014. In 2022 he became Head Chef at Melbourne’s Yugen, which earnt two hats within a month of opening. Coming full circle, he has returned to Sokyo – this time in Brisbane.
Cicada Blue
This day-to-night venue sits on The Star’s Sky Deck, seemingly suspended 100 metres above the Brisbane River. The bar will offer pre-dinner aperitif, alongside a bespoke selection of local and international beers, ciders and wines.
Cherry
A 360-degree bar featuring an extensive cocktail list and chilled beats. Cherry joins counterparts of the same name in The Star Gold Coast and Sydney.
The Star’s restaurant and bar offering will expand in the coming months with the arrival of all-day dining venue Babblers, and European-Australian venue Aloria on the Sky Deck. Between September and November, The Terrace will open with a range of restaurants including Cucina Regina, Ghanem Group’s Lúc Lắc, Potentia Solution Leisure’s Azteca, Gambaro Group’s Black Hide Steak & Seafood, and Tassis Group’s Mediterranean-inspired Dark Shepherd and French champagne bar, Pompette.
“Today is a historic occasion not just for Brisbane, but all of Australia. Our incredible team of nearly 3,000 dedicated individuals have poured heart and soul into creating a resort that will redefine entertainment and hospitality standards in our city,” says The Star Brisbane Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Finch.
Finch believes the opening “is set to elevate our city onto the global stage”.
