chef and Restaurateur Scott Pickett is teaming up with Craig Shearer to open a range of food and beverage outlets in the Hotel Continental in Sorrento, Victoria.
Following restoration, the updated Continental Sorrento will see venues covering both fine and casual dining.
“The Continental Sorrento is such a beautiful and significant establishment,” says Pickett. “I feel humbled to be associated with it and am excited to bring our food and hospitality to Sorrento.”
Among the new outlets will be a public bar, beer garden and 24-hour in venue dining. There will also be a signature restaurant called Audrey’s, named after Pickett’s grandmother who taught him how to cook.
“It’s been brilliant working with Craig across areas that are new to us like high-volume bars and large patron numbers expected to reach up to 5,000 a day,” says the chef.
“It’s a little bit different from where I started with a 30-seater restaurant in Northcote!”
Large-format venues are nothing new for Shearer, who has previous experience owning and managing large establishments including The Terminus in North Fitzroy and The Plough in South Brisbane.
“This is an incredible addition to the Mornington Peninsula and I’m really looking forward to opening the doors to all our venues, and seeing the place full and buzzing,” he says.
The landmark venue is set to open in early 2022.
