Chef Sean McConnell has announced he is leaving Canberra’s Monster Kitchen and Bar to open his own restaurant, dubbed Rebel Rebel.
The venue will take over the former TwentyOne Cafe and Grocery site nearby, and will feature an all-day-dining menu, a wine bar and bottle shop.
McConnell told The Canberra Times he aims to launch the venue in November.
“Most importantly I can’t wait to be cooking the food I love in my own restaurant…modern Australian with a European lean I guess,” he said.
Following McConnell’s departure, Monster, has announced long-time head chef Daniel Flatt will be taking the reins as executive chef.
Meanwhile, Melbourne-based chef and hospitality consultant Ian Curley has been appointed as creative culinary partner.
