Licensed restaurants and smalls bars that sell takeaway or home delivery liquor must have a Takeaway Sales Authorisation (TSA) from 1 March 2025.
A TSA allows small bars to sell takeaway liquor, pvodided it is sold with a genuine takeaway meal.
The rule does not apply to small bars selling takeaway house-made cocktails.
Orders are limited to one sealed 750ml bottle of wine, or a maximum of six beer, ciders, or RTDs totalling 2,250ml.
For restaurants, the rules are the same, except with a limit of four sealed containers of house-made cocktails.
For same-day delivery, licensed venues must comply with relevant NSW alcohol delivery laws, including meeting data reporting requirements and ensuring the delivery person has their RSA.
To apply for a TSA, visit the NSW government’s Small Bar licence webpage or the On-premises licence webpage.
