Sydney-based coffee roastery Single O has continued to expand in Japan, opening the doors to a new takeaway-only coffee bar in Shibuya today.
It’s been a jam-packed few months for the coffee experts, which has seen the launch of a new café in Brisbane’s Newstead as well as the Ryogoku Roastworks in Japan.
“We’re excited to open our first Single O location in West Tokyo, and push the envelope with our most compact store yet,” says CEO Mike Brabant.
“Our new coffee bar brings a unique takeaway-only coffee experience that combines Japan’s love of convenience and high quality coffee to the bustling heart of Shibuya.”
The Shibuya coffee bar is the third Japanese venue for Single O and is located inside the AXSH building, a community space designed for people to meet and connect.
As Brabant says, the business model revolves around quality coffee served to-go, with Single O’s tap system installed at the bar.
The team will rotate blends and origins across four taps which complement Single O’s signature blend Reservoir as well as coffee specifically selected for espresso shots and long blacks.
Single O is continuing its focus on sustainability by encouraging coffee drinkers to use reusable cups or enjoy in ceramic cups on-site. For single-use takeaway cups, a surcharge of 30 yen applies.
There’s also a selection of takeaway food options available including a Tokyo bacon and egg roll with egg salad on shokupan, a ham and cheese toastie with curried tomato sauce, and banana bread with espresso butter.
Single O’s Shibuya coffee bar officially opens 8 August and will operate from 8am until 7pm on weekdays and from 9am until 7pm on weekends.
