After 18 successful years, The Sydney Morning Herald Growers’ Market Pyrmont will be calling it a day, shutting up shop in April.

In a letter provided to stall holders, the organisers of the monthly event thanked those involved for their support over the years.

“With so many successful growers markets springing up across the city, we feel the time has come to pass the baton over to the new breed and for that reason April’s … Growers Market will be the last,” the statement reads.

“The final two Growers’ Markets will be held in March and April, and we are working towards ensuring these two events are a fitting celebration of what has been an incredible 18 years.”

Industry member Michael Shafran, founder of Brooklyn Boy Bagels, took to social media to express his disappointment.

“Bummer – just found out that the SMH Growers’ Market in Pyrmont is going to be closed after April,” Shafran wrote on Facebook. “It’s one of the best we have in Sydney so it’s a shame to see it go.”

Organisers say that they plan to keep stallholders up-to-date on new opportunities that may arise in the future.
