Solotel and Matt Moran’s Riverbar + Kitchen in Brisbane will reopen next month after an eight-month-long refurbishment.
It is welcome news for Moran after the restaurant experienced severe damage during the February floods where everything from food to furnishings were destroyed.
“To see such a beautiful venue, go under water was absolutely horrible,” says the chef and restaurateur.
“When the floods came, it wasn’t just about losing the venue, but you have all your staff and customers to worry about too.”
The restaurant has undergone a full makeover with a fresh fit out and a new-and-improved menu to match.
“To rebuild from a completely blank canvas has been amazing,” adds Moran. “It’s going to be a great refresh, a reinvigoration of what it used to be with a newer design, new branding and an elevated concept.”
Venue Manager Wesley Smith and head chef Bambi Chanpen have worked closely with Moran to elevate the food offering which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and more.
The team have honed in on fresh, local produce with a raw seafood section and a shared cocktail menu, which includes bespoke drinks such as the Cherry Pie and a Walk in the Tropics.
