Esca Group’s Middle Eastern-inspired charcoal chicken shop opens in Parramatta today.
The restaurant promises to deliver the signature charcoal cooking, low-key weeknight feasts, and takeaway fixes that its Surry Hills counterpart is known for.
Henrietta quickly developed a cult following in Surry Hills after opening in 2020 with an offering of up-market charcoal chicken, salads, and mezze, alongside cocktails and craft beer.
Now, the chicken shop has taken over the former Cicciabella site, joining Esca’s LilyMu in Parramatta Square. Esca Group Co-Founder Ibby Moubadder says Parramatta’s love for vibrant, modern dining is driving the expansion.
“Parramatta has been on our radar for a while – it’s got a dynamic energy, a thriving food scene, and a growing appetite for bold flavours,” says Moubadder. “We can’t wait to bring Henrietta to the west.”

Executive Chef Luca Lonati says that charcoal chicken remains the star of the show.
“Cooking over charcoal is what makes Henrietta special. It’s not just about the technique – it’s about the flavour, the experience, and the energy it brings to the kitchen. The intense heat caramelises, chars, and enhances every ingredient, creating deep, smoky, rich flavours you just can’t get any other way,” says Lonati.
“We’re bringing something truly special to the west. I can’t wait for locals to dig in and experience it for themselves.”
The food offering remains much the same, with signature charcoal chicken cooked over open flames and served with toum, pickles, Lebanese bread and a choice of sides.
In Parramatta, diners also have the option of sujuk arayes, a crispy pita stuffed with spiced sujuk, and sumac salmon with tomato kisir and Aleppo pepper.
The restaurant has 80 indoor and 20 outdoor seats and offers the option of takeaway.
Henrietta Parramatta is located at 153 Macquarie Street, and is open daily from midday till late.
