2025 is gearing up to be a big year for established Sydney hospitality businesses – here are two new venues to keep an eye on.
Efendy Group
Somer Sivrioglu has confirmed Efendy Group will open a seafood-centric restaurant inside the Sydney Fish Market, which is slated for completion later next year, according to the SMH.
The unnamed restaurant marks the first time the chef will solely focus on seafood, with his current venues spanning Anason and Baharat in Barangaroo, Maydanoz in the CBD, as well as a catering arm of the Efendy brand.
Group Executive Chef Arman Uz will run the kitchen of the 280-seater restaurant, which will be the largest eatery at the Fish Market. So far, we know there will be a big focus on cooking over charcoal plus a takeaway kiosk serving up to-go options such as balik ekmek – a Turkish fish sandwich often prepared by street food vendors made with grilled or fried fish and vegetables inside a Turkish bun.
Etymon Projects
Etymon Projects is taking Loulou over the bridge and into the CBD. Loulou bistro and bar and Petit Loulou cafe patisserie will both open on Elizabeth Street in February.
The 130-seat bistro will cover two levels including outdoor seating and serve dishes inspired by the South of France. Petit Loulou is geared towards the takeaway market, but will also have room for guests to take a seat inside the 25-seat cafe.
The kiosk will serve the brand’s signature croissants made with French butter as well as a selection of desserts, cakes, rotisserie chicken baguettes, nicoise salads, and sausage rolls.
“Those who have visited Loulou Lavender Bay will notice a familiarity at Loulou Martin Place and Petit Loulou as well as quite a few distinctly CBD-style touches that we can’t wait to bring to life,” says Etymon CEO Adam Petta. “We are thrilled to share Loulou’s relaxed sophistication with a new neighbourhood in such a ventral and vibrant location.”
Official opening dates for both venues to come.
