Venues in four Local Government Areas in Sydney will revert back to takeaway-only in line with stay-at-home orders.
Randwick, Waverley, Woollahra and the City of Sydney will go into lockdown from midnight 25 June until midnight 2 July.
People who live in these areas or have worked in them in the past 14 days will only be able to leave their homes for: essential work or education purposes, essential food or services, exercise, medical care or compassionate grounds.
Hospitality venues in these areas are expected to close for dine-in from midnight tonight and offer takeaway for the next seven days.
“Unfortunately, unless you’re providing essential food and services — that is takeaway food and services or grocery services of that nature — we don’t expect those businesses to remain open in the next week,” said Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
“In this outbreak, we’re seeing too many examples of workers coming in from other areas, getting infected in the workplace but then passing on the infection to multiple clients.”
Mandatory mask-wearing has also been extended until midnight 2 July.
