The Wallaby Hotel, in the Gold Coast hinterland locality of Mudgeeraba, is undergoing an extensive renovation worth $2.3 million.
The renewal will maintain the historic pub’s heritage features, with the original XXXX sign restored to its place on the roof.
Established in 1883, the venue is the heart of its local community — the transformation is set to create a casual space for everyone from families to young couples and local sporting teams to music lovers to enjoy.
The public bar, bistro, outdoor deck, kids play area and gaming room are all having a complete re-vamp and new dishes will be added to the menu, which will focus on meat from the grill as well as pub classics and kid friendly dishes.
The new outdoor deck will prove popular during the Queensland summer, with a share menu available alongside drinks. And a new play area will entertain kids, while sports lovers will be able to catch their favourite game across eight big screens. The renovation will also allow more space for live touring acts.
The staged renovation will see parts of the venue remain open throughout, with the Wallaby Hotel then set to re-open in full in November.
