Tenders are currently being sought for the establishment and operation of a caf at the new $27.5 million Toowoomba City Library.
Spokesperson for the Facilities, Libraries and Cultural Services portfolio, Cr Ros Scotney said that the new venue will be around 100m2 with indoor and outdoor dining areas, a kitchen, storeroom and designated car parks.
Scotney says that the opening of the caf will help to further build the Toowoomba Civic Square precinct into a more lively area.
“The new caf will service not only library patrons, but surrounding businesses and attendees of events in the Civic Square area,” Scotney told The Chronicle.
“The library can attract more than 1,000 patrons in any given day. There are also 10 community rooms for hire and the child health clinic operating from the site so there is potential for the business to grow with the clientele.”
Scotney says that the Council is hoping to have the caf operational by the time the new library is open in February.
The Council is offering an initial five year lease with the option to extend for an additional five years.
Tenders close at 2pm on Tuesday, 13 October.
