The team behind Sydney Middle Eastern eatery Above Par have launched a new concept dedicated to pastries, breads and other baked goods in between.
Malika Bakehouse is located in Botany and has a new-school approach to Turkish culinary traditions.
The venue is serving up a breakfast and brunch menu alongside a range of traditional baked goods.
The bakery items will rotate daily, with options including borek, a flaky thin pastry which comes with a variety of fillings, acma (soft Turkish bagels), corek (salty, buttery seeded muffins) pogaca (savoury bread), and of course, baklava.
There’s also a set breakfast menu that features Turkish dishes such as menemen, handmade gozleme and kunefe topped with carob butter, pistachio and ice cream.
Kofte plates are also in the mix and include an assortment made up of Turkish meatballs, bulghar rice, muhammara and lavash.
The venue has an extensive beverage offering with six types of coffee brews in addition to their own Turkish blend and Turkish apple tea.
Malika Bakehouse is now open for breakfast and brunch seven days a week.
