A new Latin American restaurant, United Kitchen Dining & Tapas has opened in Melbourne and is headed up by Chinese ex-pat, Tong Li.
Tong’s first Australian venture, Melbourne’s United Kitchen is located on St Kilda’s Fitzroy Street strip and is the first of a number of outlets that he plans to roll out over the coming years.
The menu is Latin American inspired, with Spanish and Asian influences and a commitment to local, seasonal Australian produce. Items include pork belly tostados, crispy fried chicken, crab meat stuffed avocado, soft shell crab with chimichurri sauce and fresh lime and slow cooked beef cheek with mash potato and jus.
The drinks list includes a range of beers and wines as well both classic and creative cocktails such as a lemon thyme margarita and a apple crumble cocktail.
The venue, which launched on 30 November,boasts an interior of natural, organic elements and materials including concrete flooring, rust-coloured walls, wooden trimmings and marble surfaces with notes of greenery.
