Japanese beef restaurant Wagyumafia will open its first international outlet in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
The Tokyo restaurant shot to fame for its members-only status and focus on high-quality Japanese beef.
Co-founder Hisato Hamada launched Wagyumafia in 2016 and has since hosted pop-up events across the globe in Paris, London, Singapore and New York.
The Hong Kong venue will host 18 diners at a time to experience an omakase menu showcasing pedigree Wagyu and Kobe beef prepared using yakiniku and shabu-shabu methods. The famous cutlet sandwich will also be on the menu.
“Wagyumafia seeks to buy only the top one per cent of Kobe beef,” says Hamada. “To ensure our premium quality standards are met, we source our products from the top 20 best farmers in Japan.”
The restaurant will initially operate on a members-only policy in November with plans to extend reservations to the public soon after.
