The Australian Hotels Association (WA) has launched the 2017 WA’s Best Steak Sandwich Competition.
Over 60 venues, divided into metropolitan Perth and country WA, are competing to gain the public’s vote and for the chance to take part in a cook-off in May.
AHA(WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, said the competition challenges WA’s pubs and restaurants to go above and beyond what’s expected of a steak sandwich.
“Now in its tenth year, competition is fierce and venues know that they have to be on top of their game if they are going to gain enough votes to become a finalist.
“Good quality Australian beef, fresh produce, secret sauces, crispy bread – there are many aspects that need to be considered when making a delicious steak sandwich that will stand-out to customers and ultimately a panel of judges,” said Woods.
Until midnight on 17 April 2017, West Australians and tourists have the opportunity to vote for their favourite steak sandwich online at www.hospitalitywa.com.
Following online consumer voting, four metropolitan Perth finalists and four country WA finalists will be invited to compete in a live steak sandwich cook-off at the AHA’s Hospitality Expo on 16 and 17 May 2017 at Crown Perth.
Last year, The Harbour Master (Esplanade Hotel Fremantle) claimed AHA’s Best Perth Steak Sandwich, while Tall Timbers in Manjimup won the Best Country title.
