Adelaide’s open-flame restaurant arkhé has announced the next four events in its year-long series of collaborations with world class chefs.
The series, featuring 12 chefs over 12 months, was launched in April 2024 in partnership with scotch whiskey distillery Laphroaig. The latest announcement follows a stellar lineup of previous events from Elvis Abrahanowicz, Ben Milgate, Jemma Whiteman, Mat Lindsay, Jordy Navarra and Rosheen Kaul.
The next four events will feature Dan Hong (Mr. Wong, Sydney) on 19 September, James Lowe (Lyle’s, London) on 10 October, Will Goldfarb (Room4Dessert, Bali) on 21 November and Ben Williamson (Agnes, Brisbane) on 5 December.
Dan Hong (Mr. Wong, Sydney) – 19 September
Currently the executive chef of Mr. Wong, Hong’s culinary prowess began in his family’s Vietnamese restaurant chain, Tanh Binh, before being honed a line of renowned Australian restaurants, including Longrain, Tetsuya’s and Bentley.
Hong’s collaboration with arkhé will bring to life a five-course Cantonese-style menu with paired drinks and cocktails.
James Lowe (Lyle’s, London) – 10 October
Owner and head chef of Lyle’s, London, Lowe has established a fierce name for himself in the industry. Less than two years after opening Lyle’s in London, the venue went on to win a Michelin star and be featured in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. The multi-award-winning chef has worked in multiple Michelin-starred restaurants including Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck.
Lowe will present an eight-course menu with wine pairings and a cocktail on arrival.
Will Goldfarb (Room4Dessert, Bali) – 21 November
Known for his avant-garde desserts at Room4Dessert in Bali, the award-winning chef boasts experience in renowned restaurants El Bulli and Tetsuya’s. Goldfarb is also the founder of R4D Academy, a resource sharing the vision of restoring community through food.
Named World’s Best Pastry Chef in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021, it’s fitting that Goldfarb will host an evening of sweet indulgence at arkhé. The eight-course menu will showcase sustainable, medicinal and produce-driven food.
Ben Williamson (Agnes, Brisbane) – 5 December
Williamson began his career as the curator of in-flight menus on Gulf Air in Bahrain. After stints at Enoteca 1889 and Urbane/The Euro, he launched Gerard’s Bistro in 2012, and Agnes in 2020.
Williamson will showcase wood-fired cooking in a four-course menu with cocktails and a Laphroaig tasting flight.
“We’re taking things up a notch with a range of culinary legends from across the globe showcasing their diverse talents and passion for cooking in the arkhé kitchen,” says arkhé co-owner and executive chef Jake Kellie. “We can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store.”
